    Looking for Suggestions

I’m hoping those with more experience can help me out. First, my hammock hanging backpacking background and patterns. I generally go out once a year (always hoping for more) for a 3-season trip in the White Mountains (NH) or Green Mountains (VT); generally fair weather, though rain would not cancel a planned trip. I have a diy gathered end hammock. I recently got a gift certificate to warbonnet and am looking to get a tarp to replace my diy 3mil plastics tarp. I have been checking out a few options and thought I would come here for feedback/thoughts on what tarp you get and in what material. Thank you all, in advance, for your suggestions and I hope everyone is well during this challenging time.

For a good tarp that will last and serve you well...any good silnylon or silpoly tarp will do the job.
Some need seam sealing. Some don't. All need the pullouts seam sealed. Most come with a small tube of seam sealer for that.
Now you will face some choices of length, width, doors or no doors, peaks, inner pole mods.....
Here is my Tarp Playlist for perusal if you want.....https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...1BCD042A98F269
    Enjoy the quest.

Thanks for your feedback, Shug. I have enjoyed your videos for many years for both information and entertainment. I recently re-watched your Thunderfly/MiniFly video and it got me leaning toward the Thunderfly in silpoly for its hydrophobic properties. Also thinking about the scrubby woods of NH and durability. I’ll go back and re-watch your tarp playlist as well. I hope you and yours are well.

The silpoly is pretty tough. You'll be good.

Shug is right about the silpoly. If weight isn't a big concern I would personally go with the Superfly. The doors come in very handy during a blowing downpour and they can be clipped out of the way during fair weather. I'm a canoe camper though, so as a hiker you may favor the Thunderfly or Minifly.....

I have the SuperFly and have used for backpacking, car camping, and on multiple kayak trips down the Shenandoah. It's a solid tarp.

Between the trees and above the ground.

Shug, I always admire and appreciate your patience and understanding of the questions asked by not only our newer members, but also some more experienced ones just heading in a new direction and seeking experience from someone who has "been there". Not only do you happily answer questions in an honest way without the usual "my way is the RIGHT way" answer, but the additional information and links always prove invaluable in helping the person finding the correct answer to THEIR particular situation. Hats off to you Shug!
