Anyone have favorite hammock/backpacking related YouTube channels, or suggest me a few channels to watch? I have been watching Syntax77 videos lately.

I shouldn't assume that you've heard of Shug Emery, so if you haven't, you have now!

You mean Shug Emery the painter? I like rpelton1, Midwestbackpacker, MattyOutdoors... it’s a rabbit hole for sure.

There are also a lot of great YouTube videos in the Trip Report thread. I really like those.

Agree about the trip reports thread. Many good HF members post their videos there-a few I've been lucky enough to hike with myself! Shug and Sintax were the first I remember following. Be careful with some channels as many gear companies see giving away free gear and/or sponsorships as a cheap way to advertise their products. I can't blame the gear makers nor the Youtubers as it appears to be a win-win for each but some videos bear a striking resemblance to informercials. These are pretty easy to see (through).

While he's not strictly a hammock guy (he used to be) one I enjoy is Evan from Evan's Backpacking Videos. He's got a quirky, dry sense of humor, makes very watchable videos, and has strong opinions, so he's fun to watch even when I think he's nuts.

There's a whole bunch of threads over the years on HF that discuss this. Once you've subscribed to some of them, your YouTube feed will offer up lots of suggestions.

Lately, I've been following more channels that relate to off grid living and bushcrafting.

I’ve learned a lot from Shug and definitely recommend his channel as well.

Shug for sure, Sintax 77, Schill Brothers, Prelohded (we hike a lot of the same hikes), The Outdoor Gear Review, Hike Oregon, Spiguyver. Darwin on the Trail, Homemade Wanderlust (Dixie), Evan's Backpacking Videos, Outdoor Adventures (Frozen), Lint Hikes for thru-hikers. I usually follow about 3 a season of AT thru-hikers. I also watch a selection of channels of hikers with questionable skill sets just for entertainment value. I post the occasion video & trip report, but don't offer any commentary as not to expose myself as a fraud.

Shug Emery? That guys a clown!

*OK, sorry. The joke was there, and I just couldn't resist picking it up.
