    New Hanger from Western PA

    Hello Folks,

I'm a new hanger from Western PA (originally from MI and lived a few other places along the way). First backpacking trip was around a decade ago at Pictured Rocks in the UP with my two brothers. We slept in the car for our first night because it was pouring and the zipper broke on our tent. Also found it difficult to sleep well on the ground. Started talking about a new adventure a couple years and that got me looking into single tent options, and then into hammocks. I joined the forum last year and have since bought a WB Eldorado and a Superfly, but I've only used them during the day hanging at local parks. Hoping to do some backpacking trips this year but still need to fill out my basic gear set (I'll be posting in WTB shortly). Also hoping to hang with others in my area soon. Thanks for the forum, hope to meet some of you on the trail in the future!

Welcome to the forums Sherlock. We usually do some group hangs in ANF but not sure when we are going to get together again due to the virus. Lets hope everyone stays safe and healthy and we will hang when it's smart to do so.

That’s been my thought exactly. I went to ANF for the first time last year and I imagine you could take many trips there and still miss all that it has to offer. I have heard about these group hangs and I’m curious to see what they’re all about. I’m hoping to do a little on my own for the time being, but I don’t have any insulation yet so I posted in WTB to see what comes up. Thanks for the greetings!

where about are you in PA? I'm in WNY, area (Buffalo) and always looking to meet new people for adventures. I love going to ANF. I backpack and kayak camp there a lot. With the current prohibitions on camping due the the pandemic I can't, but once it's lifted I will be out there ASAP.
