Which hammock for tall, heavy guy for MC trips to the forest

    Hi everyone.

I love motorcycles and I love hammocks... so why not go on MC trips and sleep in a hammock in a forest instead of finding a hotel?

But... being a 6.5 feet tall guy and weighting something like 130 kg (last time I checked), I am sure that I cannot use any hammock. I did search in here and I found some old postings with links that no longer worked, so I will try to start a new tread in order to get updated information.

What would you guys recommend for me as a good (but not too expensive though) hammock that I can sleep comfortable in. I do have a big touring bike, but the smaller and more light weighted the better.

My idea is to bring a sleeping bag as well, but maybe not needed?

    Regards, Lars.

Try looking at Warbonnet BlackBird XL Quality gear and a solid value. Happy Hunting!

I’ve been pleased with my double layer sparrow. I’d recommend going to a local hang or if you live close enough to a cottage vendor, to see and demo the gear in person. There are many hammocks that would fit the bill, but not sure what your budget is. You can easily drop a grand on any complete rig including tarp and top/underquilts and hammock. It will pay for itself on the long run and you get what you pay for so best to buy once, cry once in my personal experience. I started with an eno hammock, but once I tried the dream hammock, I returned that hammock and never looked back. I also bought insulation from different vendors and also a fellow Hf member made a custom 40 degree down under quilt for me. Hammocks to me are a way to enjoy quality sleep in the outdoors so I think the money spent is well worth it. You are worth it to invest in your quality sleep.

    Bist du Deutscher?

Ich bin zwei M und einhundert fünf und vierzig kg. Ich benutze eine 300cm zu 330cm Hängematte von Aliexpress. Es war ungefähr 20 Euro.

From what I can see, there are not much support for neither Warbonner nor Dutchware in my area.

That would have been my second guess. I once knew a Lars from Hamburg. I found this on Amazon.UK 320cm hammock

it is similar to one I have. Though mine is a Wolfyok branded... they are all probably made in the same factory in China just different labels. I also, have a ProVenture branded version. The brand is not as important as looking for the size. 300cm or 320cm if you can find it most all will be 210T nylon material. I did see a 320cm hammock on amazon.NL. AliExpress you'll just have to search. I got my hammock many years ago and listing is no longer there.

If you need a bug net, those can be purchased easily so they slip over the whole hammock.

    Regards, Jeff

Amazon.nl probably better because of custom issues.

Yeah, Hamburg was once Danish, so probably a lot of Danish names there

    Regards, Lars.
