    Jekyll Island hang

I spent the night in the primitive area last night. I usually spend 5 or 6 nights a
month April through December and I usually pick a backcountry site or a Wma. I
was unprepared for crowded scene that awaited me on this excursion!! Headlights,
    alarms and people everywhere.

People were kind and the staff was excellent Just not my cup of tea.

Walking two miles into the woods will usually eliminate 99.44% of that.

Hope you had a good trip.

I have been there twice, over 10 years ago, with our greyhounds for an annual gathering and the ticks were just awful while I would venture out for geocaches.

Having lived in Jesup, GA (50 miles west) for 5 years, we were at Jekyll Island almost every weekend walking the beach. We found that after Thanksgiving through January was the least busy time. We always met snowbirds that preferred the campground there rather than Florida. They told us that the campground was usually full for the "winter."
