Tree straps & suspension for big backpacker

I’m 6’-2” & 265 lbs. I’ve been using 1” poly tree straps with whoopies on marlin spike hitch. On my Last outing my one of my poly straps failed. They were cheap so I’m not surprised. I am going to buy a new set and am open for some changes. I rarely car camp / almost always multiple overnight backpacking - so weight and packability of the suspension is important to me. I’ve been considering the Hummingbird Hammock straps or the Dutchware UHMWPE. I really don’t want a bunch of hardware but am thinking about using Dutch Biners with double loop straps and whoopies for quick connection & adjustment. Any other lightweight ideas for a big fella?

Sometimes the increment of weight saving isn’t worth it. I can’t imagine a daisy chain and the carabiners WarBonnet sells (smaller/lighter than regular rock climbing biners) being too heavy for you. Knowing you are secure in your hammock is worth a few extra ounces. Wrap the daisychain around the tree, clip into the appropriate loop for your desired hang angle, done. Everything rated way in excess of your hammock weight (assuming proper approximate hang angle).
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Get a good quality poly tree strap and you will be just fine.
It all begins with the chosen tree and strap.

Iv become a huge fan of kevlar straps. Can get various strengths. It un-knots easy if doing a beckett or similar.
Iv used a few dyneema straps and it's fine. It rolls up too easy and can be difficult to unknot but still easier then cheap, stiff poly.
Dont forget the option of a tree hugger and amsteel.
If you like poly, can always invest in some new poly or a poly/dyneema mix that would be both lighter and stronger then normal poly.

I'm about the same size as you and use the Dutch spider/polys with beetle buckles, but I'm pretty sure you can use a MSH just fine with them.

Love my Dutch spider/MSH combo. Spendy but bomber, super light and compact. I have both CLs and Whoopies attached to the hammock and use whatever is appropriate. Simple, idiot proof deployment with maximum flexibility.

+1 on the spider straps with cinch buckles. At 240 lbs I’ve had poly straps slip more than once. Hasn’t been an issue since changing.

Whoopie slings work fine for me on my indoor hammock, but 15’ long 1” spider straps with a pair of 2” spider tree wrap (6 foot?) go with me in the woods.

As someone shorter but heavier than you, I have lucked out with the OEM straps on my gear so far. My next suspension is planned to be either cinch or Beetle buckles with Spider straps after seeing a few setups with them. So, another +1 on those from me.
Oooh, shiney! What does THIS button do?
