Tarp / Bugnet Combo

I'm looking for plans or feed back on previous Tarp Bugnet combos. What's worked, what to avoid?

It going to be for use in the Philippines so 'cold' is 72F / 22C.
I'm anticipating having to deal with mosquitoes any time we go camping so fell like having an enclosed space were my son & I could cook on a camp stove would be a good idea.
I though about leaving it floor-less but there are other critters that I think I'll try to keep out also so adding a floor seems a good idea.

Directions are hand written and I can't find a picture.

I'm envisioning a hex tarp with the bug net sewn directly to the tarp.

Are there any tutorials out there? I've looked but other than Sgt Rock's I haven't seen any. Is there a reason why this idea hasn't been pursued?

Eureka (Canada) sells a No-bug zone combo (about $135 US) that might help in planning your's. It uses a zipper system so you can zip up to your hammock suspension.

Check out Sierra Madre, they've got some all in one designs that are in the general direction of what you're talking about. Lots of video reviews. Looking at the eureka example, having the mesh walls joined at the end of the tarp seems like they're going to get soaked on every rain. Pain to deal with in additional to a wet tarp. The Sierra Madre approach has them set back like the eaves of a roof on a house which might make a difference. I think the story on Stg Rock's videos is something went weird with his youtube account and they all got deleted and life got in the way and he never got around to posting them again. Smart guy with some good ideas.

Yes, the Eureka version is heavy but it fits the remit of "enclosed space were my son & I could cook"

You could cut weight using 20, 30D silnylon or silpoly rather than the 75D of the Eureka.
