    Greetings from Pennsylvania!

    Hi there folks!

New face around here on the HammockForums. I'm Jaymawr, college kid from Southeastern PA, currently going to school in the central portion of the state where I get to enjoy most of our "wilds" and National Forests. I found a love and preference for hammock camping during my time in Boy Scouts, and haven't been comfortable tenting since. I never really had any good hammock gear while in scouting, but a cheap 10 footer and tarp with my sleeping pad did me just fine.

Now, jonesin' to do some more hanging this spring, i've purchased a used Dutchware 11ft from a guy online and have started to experience some Gear Acquisition Syndrome. I always love learning more about how I can craft my perfect hanging setup, and enjoy watching hammock camper content on Youtube and flicking through all the subreddits.

I'm excited to get to know some of the people around here and look forward to building my kit for some hanging and backpacking soon!

    - Jay

    Welcome, Jay.

If you're in/near State College you are no doubt aware of Allegheny Front Trail right there on your doorstep. Really great venue for backpacking and testing gear, and you have many, many other options in PA!

Hi cmoulder! Thanks for the welcome. Yup, i'm in that area and have done quite a decent amount of the AFT in Moshannon. I'm part of the Outing Club on campus, and the hikes i've led or gone on there have been great.

Good review of HammockGear's Wanderlust hammock package that might interest you.

Not the absolute lightest kit out there, but very respectable @ 5.5lb for hammock/suspension/quilts/tarp at an extremely good price, and it's quality... not some Amazon junk that nearly always disappoints.

Edit: I just saw above where expert help is nearby in the form of JRB, so I'd snap that up in a heartbeat!
