    Two pole internal mod trial

purchased a Speer winter tarp - last owner had tabs sewn for ext pole mod - I kinda like the idea of internal structure, keeping wind at bay etc.
used over door poles from my MSR tent, the fit well enough and fit into the beastie dee at the tarp corners and have it strung it up in the DIY hammock stand
Used 1/8 bungee cord as test tied to ends.
Supposed to be 3 days of crappy / awesome weather starting tonight. Rain, snow, rain / snow mix, rain, freezing rain mixed with snow, windy, windy with blowing snow... anyway will see if : 1. my waterproofing on the top seam holds back rain (had one small leak previous), and B. will the poles stay put. looks like I may have to adjust, tarp looks a little slack.

I don't understand the 1/8th bungee tied to the ends of what? Is there anything in the perak to keep the poles from sliding together/falling inwards? If the ends are in beasties and the top is locked inplace it's going to be perfect.

the bungee is tied to the centre of the poles at the ridge of tarp - then each is pulled towards the ends to keep them from falling inwards towards the centre. Idea not mine - there are a few videos that show how to set up - easier to follow than my rambles.

I have made 3 tarps with that system, it is from KitsapCowboys Batwing tarp build in this forum ... here: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ll-Season-Tarp

I just use a piece of Zing-It, instead of the bungee (there is already a lot of play in how the poles fit) made to the right length and connected where the tarp hooks up to the RL.

Hey Cruiser - god idea once I get the magic length. My poles I think may be a tad long- but I have just let them lean in more for now.
