Hello from the Great White North!

I’m a recent convert to hammocks. I did an overnight hammock early last spring with a Coalatree hammock and tarp setup along with a -18C sleeping bag. It was early enough that the bugs weren’t a problem and it worked out really well.

I picked up a Henessey Expedition Zip later in the spring from MEC to take on a week long backcountry trip through Algonquin. I’ve been using a Thermarest Neo X-lite sleeping pad to keep out the chill but I’m looking to switch to an under-quilt.

Can anyone point me to a thread that can recommend some Canadian suppliers that I can use to avoid paying extra duties and shipping costs?

    Thanks!

I’ve been very pleased with Hofmann out of Brandon MB. I’ve bought various supplies from them for doing a DIY underquilt as well as for adding zippers onto my HH Classic hammock. Gerrit has been great to deal with.

I’ve not seen any of his actual sewn products, but my expectation is that they will be good based on my dealings with him.

    Hi there.
I don't know if actual threads, but I have dealt with HOG shop as well as James at Little Shop of Hammocks. No shortage if information and opinion to sort through in the forums.
    Good luck with the search.

Thanks for the info. I’m sure I’ll have more recommendations than I know what to do with after some digging around the forums.

Hey there CanadianGuy! Have you considered the HH Super Shelter for insulation? Those are not all that popular around here, but I and a few others have had great results with it, relative to it's weight and bulk and expense. Plus it's a Canadian company, right?

There are plenty of other great UQs and such available, like JRB and AHE and several others, but of course they are all American companies.
