My vote is for a single. I tried a double and had issues with bunching in the middle and slipping out and it just seemed harder to stuff in my external mesh pocket. Granted, the double was given to me and may have been too small for my Superfly. I second Mountain Goat and love the mesh since it gives the tarp a chance to drain/dry out a little.

EDIT addition: I haven't had to set up when it's been really windy. I would think the single would be slightly easier since you're uncovering one end first, so you can stake the lines out. With a double you're starting at the middle when the guys are on the end. Can anyone verify that?

I think it just comes down to personal preference. Having said that, I use a DIY one piece on mine.

I had a two piece. Worked well. Never lost any pieces. I don’t think that would be likely to lose a piece as others have said - once it’s on, its on. I did have issues with the two piece opening in the middle and some of my tarp would spill out. Never thought of a button or Kam snap or velcro. I just switched to a single piece and have been very pleased so far.

I like the double, but have never tried a single.

I greatly prefer the one piece...it’s faster and easier to slide on and off. No fidgeting at the center!

(I loved the two piece until I tried the one piece. I’ll never buy another two piece now that I’ve gotten spoiled by the one piece ones!)

Tried both one and two piece... Cuben and mesh.

Settled on the one piece mesh for a bunch of reasons... All three tarps use them

A second vote for the one piece mesh. All of my tarps have them as well.

Trust me, I would find a way to lose it. I'll give the single sleeve a shot.
