Hammock feel Hexon 1.6 vs 1.7 MTN XL

I've had a DIY hammock with bug net 11 ft long 68 inches wide for a couple of years now made out of Hexon 1.6. I enjoy it and find it to be pretty comfortable. I also have a 11' netless hammock made out of HyperD 1.6, which feels like it has just a little more give/stretch to the fabric which ok.

At 190lbs would 1.3 MTN XL likely be too stretchy? Does 1.7 MTN XL feel like it has significantly less stretch than Hexon 1.6?

First off, here's a recent thread of similar discussions you may be interested in.

MTN 1.7 is definitely stiffer and my favorite hammock material for my 190 pounds.

No experience with the MTN 1.7 but I do have and like the 1.3.

Worth noting that to the touch, the MTN line is very stiff and crispy. It seems to be breaking in as I use it more, but it there is a crinkly feel to that is nothing like the soft feel of my Hexon 1.0. Almost feels like it is calendared. Not bad.. just different.

Compared to my 1.6 hammocks (all Hyper D) the Mtn 1.3 is a firmer lay as well.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

I have hammocks in MTN 1.7, MTN 1.3, MTN 1.2, and Hexon 1.6.

The MTN 1.7 is very firm, much firmer than all the others.
The MTN 1.3 is stretchier - probably similar to the Hexon 1.6 in terms of stretchiness.

In general it seems the MTN fabrics are relatively firm for their weight.

What MikekiM says above about the "crispiness" of the MTN fabrics is very true. They have a shiny, plasticky, feel, especially when new. My MTN 1.2 hammock has had a lot of use, and has softened up. My other MTN hammocks haven't yet had enough use for this softening to happen.

My MTN 1.7 is now used by boisterous 10-year old son, who I figure needs a stronger hammock cos he bounces around and is likely to bring sharp-edged objects, friends, or both, into the hammock with him. The MTN 1.3 is my new baby, and the MTN 1.2 is for my partner. The Hexon 1.6 is a spare.
