I just straight-splice, but use the spliced end for attaching to hammock with larkshead. Tails won't easily come out because they are twisted up tight against the hammock.

If a loop has the proper bury lengths, tails don't come out under tesion. They slide out when the rope is relaxed. A few lock stitches is my preferred method to prevent this.
But, tension the bury hard before stitching, and then make the stitches loose. If you put in tight stitches before ever tensioning the bury, the initial shift could break the thread.
