Anyone else from Ottawa? I am also interested in canoeing and fly fishing should there be anyone out there with similar interest!

    Thanks, I will do that.

I have done a few canoe trips in Germany and Scandinavia, but I would not consider myself a canoeist (if this word exists). But I want to do it more often now that I live in canoe heaven!

Is Temagami still on the calendar for this year?

I can't join Lofty next weekend, but I'm putting a pin in the wife calendar for the Temagami or fall Algonquin trips options.

Also, I've want to squeeze a weekender in with my brother and niece in case she eventually goes back to school this year. PM me if you can recommend a marshmallow-y crown land spot suitable for a 10yo that's used to car camping. Trying to get her out on a few backcountry trips before she gets too self-conscious about "going in the woods."

I'd rather save Temagami for when we can relax 'social distancing' & enjoy group meals, carpooling, etc. A nice Fall Algonquin (or similar) trip sounds just about right.

Here's a thought ... how about another two-parter around Opeongo? For the "Tough", up to the north end for a few nights exploring Red Rock, Happy Isle, Merchant or Proulx, then back to meet the 'Marshmallows' on Opeongo.

Water taxis up to the furthest reaches of Opeongo can make short work of an otherwise all-day paddle, and can be reasonable when shared with a group.

Last week of September / first week of October?

Like Keewaykeno, I`d rather save Temagami for when we can actually shake hands and sit around a big campfire!

As far as the fall trip goes, bear in mind that trout season ends September 30th. Opeongo`s nice. Bubba and I were talking about the beach site on Pen as well. Time`s flying by!

Luvmybonnet, we really should arrange for a EGL field trip to Niagara Falls. You can stand by the American falls, we`ll stand by the Canadian and we can wave to each other. Bring your binoculars.

I've never been there, so would love to see it. Sold my Prospector and ordered a Keewaydin, eta late Sept ... eager to put her to use.

If that's what we do, I propose a pre (or post) Marshmallow loop through Louisa if anybody else can spare the time.

Can we talk dates so folks can weigh in & put the time aside?

Just to kick it off, here's a suggestion hoping to catch some nice Fall foliage:

Sep. 29 or 30 to Oct. 1 - Louisa Loop

    Oct. 2 - 4 - Marshmallow Meet on Pen

    Oct. 4 - 6 - Alternate Louisa Loop

To help get you in the mood, here's a few images from this week's trip to Rain, Jubilee and Sawyer with Whet Newdell & son.

    Cheers!

Nice pics! The Pen lake timing slots in nicely between birthdays and Thanksgiving for me.
