    Canada>Central->EGL 2020 Spring-Summer-Autumn Openwater Season

    Hi all,

First post in the new subdivided Canadian planning forum!

Just thought I'd post a tentative schedule for 2020. As always, there's an open invite to anyone wanting to attend.

    • Spring: Depending on ice out, first (new moon) or second weekend (waxing moon) of May. Ralph Bice, Little Trout, North Tea? Elsewhere?
    • Summer: Sometime - Nogonash Lake.
    • Summer: Sometime - Killarney. Paddle or hike.
    • Summer: Late July/early August - French River was fun last year.
    • Early Fall: Big trip! End of September - Temagami!! 2-9 day Voyageur/Marshmallow format!
    • Late Fall: Mid-October - Algonquin in time for the colours because, well, you know..... Easy paddle in.

I'll be posting a new thread for each outing.

    See you out there!

Haven't been to North Tea for a few years, I like that area ... I would put in a vote for North Tea in the spring

Hmmm. tentatively Little trout sounds good, north tea has potential for wind and waves.
Nogonosh for the bass opener, maybe a little further down the lake than "campsite deluxe"
French,I would do that again in a second.
Temagami, 9 days. been on my bucket list for years.Ive done trips north of the area, east, south, not much around the chiniguchi area but im ready for some temagami proper.
No signs,no fees,no rules, nobody. My kind of campsite.

One different spring suggestion is Rosebary. Padded through it and it looks like a nice lake. We could enter at Tim and go down the Tim river which had almost no portages. Estimated time one way is 3h and change.

And no, this isn't the nasty part of the Tim that people complain about.

But I'm good for anything - itching to get out.

Rosebary sounds perfect. I'll miss the portages though.

Depending on water levels some of the liftovers might feel like portages on the Tim. Early spring will help for sure. We did Rosebary a few years back for trout open. Got windlocked to the site. Twas my first backcountry hammock hang.

Tim River to Rosebary sounds good. North Tea is also interesting.

Sad news. Looks like the first canoe symposium Heather and I were going to attend just got cancelled today due to health concerns.
