Question tie down for dog while sleeping when backpacking

I'm going to be taking my dog backpacking with me and I was wondering what you all used to secure your dog to a tree while sleeping? I just ordered a pup tent from dutch so not I will need something light weight to secure my dog while sleeping so she don't run off.

    thanks

My dog seem to never want to chew their tie-outs, so I use a length of braided nylon cord I had handy, put a loop on one end and a swivel snap on the other. This has worked well for me on several trips.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

I keep a leash handy and within easy reach if I have to get my dog on the leash quickly while hiking & I use it in camp too if I need him to stay put. During the night though, he sleeps under the hammock/tarp without the leash.

do you just use a store bought leash or did you make one out of kevlar?

Store bought. The weight penalty isn't that significant where I feel I need to make my own.

I used paracord on my dog's collar and tied it to my wrist. She woke me up a lot, but didn't run off.

I use a regular leash for the hike, then they are just free when I get to my site, never run more than about a hundred yards, they also just stay under my hammock over night. If there are lots of people,I use 550 cord on a running line.

my dog is a full blooded husky so letting her off lease is not an option.

A suitable length of Amsteel would be light, strong and you could easily splice a couple of loops and anything else you want on it. Seems like it would be ideal.
