I like the Evo loops.I do put a Nano 22 on the loop to use for weight to heft the line around the tree though and use a 2 inch tree hugger with one inch uhwmpe type webbing tied to yet another Evo loop which is what I am using for CL's.The knot makes a great place for a low skilled person's becket hitch to grab onto. The little pull string idea for getting it loose later is priceless, btw. After all is good with the hammock I will use the Nano 22 biner to hang a food bag and kitchen/trash bag pct style later.

    See thread title.

As a backpacker of the UL persuasion, one of the big reasons I resisted even considering a hammock for such a long time was that I saw relatively heavy setups with lots of hardware and connection gizmos and specialized stuff sacks/sleeves and thought all this stuff was necessary. Just didn't seem there was any way hammock/quilts/tarp could be competitive weight-wise with a similar UL ground kit, not with all this foof and faff.

Then I really delved into the whole matter for the past couple of years and discovered that a lot of the gizmos I was previously led to believe are essential are in fact totally unnecessary, at least for me.

And it seems that other people are also interested in a simpler, lighter and less cluttered approach. With a few basic knots and the right webbing and cordage, setup can be easy, fast and hardware-free.

Ah.. so I went to left field on this thread. I would hope it obvious I don’t hang from the RL I pictured. I made that for a member for his tarp.

Evo loops all the way on my tree straps.

lol well exchange that zing-it for some 2mm Dynaglide and it's a SUL hammock suspension!

First time I saw someone hanging on Dynaglide I thought he was nuts. I didn't know there was such a thing.

I hung on Dynaglide for a season.. still have the full ucr suspension, but haven't had need or desire to use it in a few years.

I first saw this on a Jeff Myers video but I think it is the same as Grappler's Hitch. Easy to use with gloves on, both putting up and taking down the suspension.
I use this exact system. It's very easy to use, simple, light, and secure.

It's reasonably easy to make/splice. I followed the instructions here:

Yes, this is what I've been doing for a while now. I use a button knot rather than a diamond knot though. I call these Figure 8 ridgelines.
