Lately I have been using a modified version of the grappler hitch. It starts with an evo loop/ button knot- through the hugger loop- take the loop end of the evo and put the button knot through it twice - this forms the botton hole that captures the button. This has proven to be a very secure attachment, not only for the hammock but for anywhere in my kit that I need an attachment ; tarp RL, SRL, UG's etc.
^^^^^^ exactly this. Thanks jeff-oh for the video- I didn't know this already existed. It does work great.
I tried the “button hole” for a couple months but found that the button hole tightened up with use and started to get too fiddly for me. Making the EVO loop capturing the tree strap loop has proven much better for me.
Put a Celtic knot like Tacblades shows if you are worried about the knot slipping out of the loop.
