I have been using the Evo Grappler (Grapplers Hitch but with the Evo knot and technique) as well for half a year now and like it a lot.

Lately I have been using a modified version of the grappler hitch. It starts with an evo loop/ button knot- through the hugger loop- take the loop end of the evo and put the button knot through it twice - this forms the botton hole that captures the button. This has proven to be a very secure attachment, not only for the hammock but for anywhere in my kit that I need an attachment ; tarp RL, SRL, UG's etc.

Are you basicly saying to double larks-head it to the strap loop?

Not a double LH of the strap it is more of a double LH of itself(the evo loop itself) after going around the strap once, the button goes through the loop end of the evo twice- wal-lah a button hole for a button knot. hope this helps.

Are you doing the attachment as shown at the 4:50 time point in this video?

I tried the “button hole” for a couple months but found that the button hole tightened up with use and started to get too fiddly for me. Making the EVO loop capturing the tree strap loop has proven much better for me.

Put a Celtic knot like Tacblades shows if you are worried about the knot slipping out of the loop.

    I found the same thing.
The locked brummell version stops this.
