    Strap as continuous loop ?

    Hello guys !!!!

I did a lot of spliced continuous loop out of amsteel but this time Im curious to try with a piece of suspension strap.

I could sew the strap to make a loop but, if I want to use a knot instead, wich one should I use?

Do you know a way to make it look nice ?

    Double fisherman's bend... here

Depending upon what webbing is used, if using the larkshead for installation it might not fit through the sewn channels.

The waterknot is specially adapted to bending webbing.

However, i would recommend instead that you just sew a loop. It will be neater, stronger, and lighter. (The recommended overlap for sewing is 3:1 length/width using 6 bartacks)

Thx guys ! The waterknot was the first thing that came in mind too. Im trying it now, not easy to make it look clean. I guess I will sew it as your recommandations.

    Alpine Butterfly Loop
    Diamond knot
    Double overhand knot

Try any of these and try some that have already been posted. I hope you find knots that meet your criteria.

Sewing strap will be much neater.
Also sewn loop strap will be a bit lighter because knots use lots of strap length inside the knot.
Sewing might even be stronger, knots have stress points built in at tight bends and loops pulling strap one way and another at same time.
If you don’t have a sewing machine, or skills to use it; you can find someone to sew loop for you.

If you don’t have a sewing machine, or skills to use it: do it old school and sew by hand.
