    Pinhoti Trail Hike

A friend and I did another section of the Pinhoti here in Alabama the past week. Working on completing the trail, a little at a time. Great trip, used my new HG Phoenix for the first outing, worked great.

I have plans of doing the same thing except its difficult making myself hike outside of Cheaha Wilderness. The wilderness is the second best place to backcountry camp in Alabama. Sipsey is the best. I love going off-trail and exploring.

I have done a lot of hiking in Cheaha, but have really enjoyed the other sections I have done on the Pinhoti. It’s a great trail.

That’s one of my favorite sections on the pinhoti, laurel and lower shoal shelters are great campsites. Did the trains keep you up at the birds in the pine campsite? I wasn’t expecting them the first time I camped there! The entire trail is very nice, cheaha is awesome to but you really have the rest of the trail to yourself most of the time without the crowds which makes it even better. I enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing.

I slept hard enough that the trains were not an issue. Definitely want to go back and spend a night at Lower Shoals, such a great spot.

I have not, but it’s getting close. Working my way north, so won’t be too long.
