If you were to get one quilt

I know this is a loaded question. I have a quilt for warmer camping, but I want one that will keep me warm down into the teens. Id like for it to have high sides and almost act like a cocoon. Do any of you have suggestions? I have the WB XLC and Dutchware Chameleon.

Don't expect to be able to use an underquilt only. It's not a cocoon. You will need a topquilt as well.

I don't know of any quilts currently that have high enough sides to act like a cocoon. Most folk are looking to reduce the size and unusable space of a quilt to minimize the space taken in a backpack.

That said, you can probably get that cocoon feeling out of an XL or XXL down filled sleeping bag.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Bottom and sides are covered, but unless you have something else on top you'll get cold.

I suppose you could wear more clothing and lie stuff on top of you, but that's no fun, especially under 20°. You really want to be sealed up in a nice quilt or sleeping bag.

Zdubb, that elusive cocoon environment, probably not too far off.
Custom sized quilt set, somewhat wider than standard sized quilt sets, might help.

Maybe enclose hammock in a pea pod type enclosure by encasing hammock in a sleeping bag.
If you get too warm, you can push top quilt off a little.
Sometimes if I get too warm and begin to sweat, I snap snaps of top quilt around hammock ridgeline. This way, when I push it away, it doesn’t fall on ground. I keep feet in foot box of topquilt.

And if you do decide you only need an underquilt and not a topquilt, don't forget the battery clamps!

I do use a top quilt. I realize I need one and do use one. I am just looking for a larger underquilt and wanted suggestions on one that you guys feel is the best.

Got it. I think any larger than the usual size could start to cause issues. I wonder about the ends sealing up. And could it let cold air funnel in from the sides? In my photo above, you can see there would be a lot more hammock material for the UQ to "fight" with.
