    Hexon 1.0 chameleon question

I'm getting a chameleon. I was initially planning on going with the
Hexon 1.6 purely because of the weight limit on 1.0. On a lot of other threads, ppl exceeding 200 lbs reported using the Hexon 1.0. I'm 206lbs so I'm not far over the limit.... But it's not like I'm loosing weight these days either. What's the real weight limit on Hexon 1.0?

    Weight limits...

While many report success, consider also the lifetime of this hammock--the fabric strength will only diminish with exposure to sun, body oils, wear & tear. Perhaps you'll get more life out of the 1.6? I'm remembering thru hiker Loner ripping through his ultralight hammock part way along the trail--it held him just fine for roughly half of the trail (I forget exactly where, maybe more like 2/3's?), which is a good long time of constant use.

I'm 185 and 5' 10" and using hexon 1.0 with a netted hammock from another vendor. No issues but I do feel that I'm at the high end of the weight limit. Good reason for me to go on a diet...note, it's a bug season only hammock.

At 205, I'd play it safe and go with the 1.6. I've got 2 hammocks (no nets) made from it that I use for lounging and winter camping. The fabric is comfortable and I like the support.

It really is 200. We came up with that limit after selling and servicing literally thousands of hammocks.

Don't forget to add the weight of the gear in the hammock and clothes you're wearing. In my case quilts, phone, battery charger, and a water bottle. Can easily add another 5-6 pounds. At that point, you're 5% over the limit.

I think, based on my experience at 160lbs with Hexon 1.0 that your weight and the 1.0 fabric weight, regardless of if it will support you, will make for an uncomfortable hang. I'm all for knowing that UL fabrics will not last as long potentially as heavier, sturdier fabrics and occasional use will extend that life vs everyday use, but I really think the stretch will be a hindrance in your case. Many at my weight, well within the limit, don't like the "sag" of 1.0 fabrics. Will you tear through on first try, probably not. Could you push it to 235-250? Probably. You won't like it though.

Thanks all, I think I'll stick with 1.6 just to be on the safe side. The durability factor alone makes sense to me! Thanks for the advice!

Agree with Brooklyn. Unless I'm shaving every gram to be UL, at 180 lbs I actually use my 1.6 more than my 1.0 Chameleon or my 1.2 Darien. Everybody is different, but I prefer a little less sag.
