I don’t use forums at all. In fact, I’m seldom aware of them.
I use Tapatalk on my phone to read HF, and set it to show unread messages.
So despite proudly being from Canada, and frequently stressing that in my posts, I wouldn’t even notice if there were to be a sub-divided Canada forum.

It's just Canada....not broken up into regions like the USA folk have....ie: Northeast etc etc etc.

How would you Canadians like the forums to be broken up?
Would you want them sub-divided like this?
    Alberta
    British Columbia
    Manitoba
    Newfoundland and Labrador
    New Brunswick/Nova Scotia
    Nova Scotia
    Ontario
    Saskatchewan
    Quebec

Despite my reservations, if you were to sub-divide anything, I think County_Mountie suggested Atlantic/Central/Prairie/Pacific. IMHO it's a much better breakdown than a provincial division.

Does that mean you'd have to reassign all prior threads into their proper category?

Atlantic/Central/Prairie/Pacific would seem to me the best and simplest categories IMHO.

I would think that it would be more than sufficient to just leave all prior posts and anything new be put into the sub-forums. I'm still not sure what reservations you have with this Chard....it's not like I'm asking HF's to solve world hunger or anything; it's just the addition of a few categories. If HF's doesn't want to do it then so be it, I just thought it would be a nice idea since the USA has all their regions represented. It shouldn't matter whether or not there are many posts or not but maybe it would make people enter more; maybe not. Again, it was only a suggestion.

What about the Yukon, Northwest Territories? I could see Nunavut being left out.

There are NO trees in Nunavut so that isn't a problem. The Northwest Territories can be with Central and Yukon with Pacific.

Sub-dividing the forum or not isn't really a big issue for me, I just think that it's a matter of managing complexity. The USA has over 4500 planning threads with between 300 - 1600 threads in each of their five categories and clearly benefit from additional sub-divisions. Their smallest, the Southwest at 309, has over double the Canadian count, and seems to be fine. We have little more than a score each year to manage.

Bottom line and my last word: If there's a need in the community for sub-divisions, then I'm absolutely fine with that. I'm just an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" kinda guy.

Logistically, I think the Northwest Territories are more closely tied to the Prairies provinces than they are to the Central.

Your funny...for someone who says it isn't a "big issue" for you, you really seem to have a lot of input....at least you made me smile today lol.
