I recently joined this forum so i thought i should introduce myself.
Let me start with my personal info, I am a 17 year old bo from the south of Spain. Right now im studying at highschool and in my free time i like to make stuff. I am also a scout, what helped me have my first encounter with hammocks.
The first time i used a hammock i wasn't older than 3 or 4 and it probably was at my grandparents` beach house, it was a fun experience for sure.
But it wasn´t until seven years ago when i hang one by myself, it was a present from my parents before i set of to a summer camp, back then i just tied it with the original ropes. Many years passed until last year a monitor and good friend of mine suggested that i tried slleeping in it. And thats what i did, thanks to god i was sleeping inside a barn and i had a -20ºC sleeping bag beacuse had it been outside and i would have got my butt frozen (it was winter).
Later the summer camp came and i slept every single night (15) outside in my hammock and as it was warm i didn`t need an underquilt. Saddly later that summer my sister and my cousin ripped the hammock (it lasted a good 7 years of abuse although being 9.99€).
But something happened (otherwise i wouldn´t be writing here) , as a christmas present my father gave me a new hamock. After a month or so i started researching for improvements and diy projects, and here i am after almost a whole life of hammocking starting to tinker around with whoopie slings and ridgelines. I have even made a full underquilt out of an old sleeping bag. I hope a lot more years of hammocking come along, and thanks for reading. Cheers!!
