I generally use a CRL with prussiks clipped to the tarp for that reason, but I do use Loop Aliens with the CRL. I do one at the end of one end of the CRL, which is essentially the fixed end and which I generally use as the head end, and then use the loop alien larks-headed well from the end of the line as a tensioner on the other (foot) end.

If I *were* to go with lines tied directly to the tarp, I’d first get a good sense of exactly how much the head end of the tarp should overlap the hammock, and then use the line-end loop alien to fix that end at that distance. Then, if I’ve remembered my overlap distance right, once I’ve tensioned the foot end of the tarp, the overlap should be fine.

Depending on the relative sizes of hammock and tarp, you can probably key the overlap to a fixed length on your hand or arm, like your hand width, a full finger spread, fingertip to watch, or some other memorable span that you always carry with you.

Lol, I myself have a love/hate relationship with them. I’ve been using Nama claws for a couple of years and they have worked well so far. I got them because I wasn’t crazy with the prussik on my ridgeline.

I’ve used your UCR idea on my guy outs, maybe I should give them a try for my ridgeline.

What diameter line do you use with the Nama Claws? Have you used them in really gusty wind? Because they rely on a pull tension, I wonder how they'd hold if the wind was "flexing" the tarp so it would be (slightly) loose/tight/loose/tight with the gusting wind.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

This might help, and it might knot...

Also I have other videos showing other knots

If you choose to use a knot for a certain application. You might have same requirements I have. Knot will be easy to tie and will do its job and not slip. And just as important, knot will be easy to untie without jamming. My favorites are exploding knots that disappear when ripcord is yanked!
Knots are not for everybody, perfectly understandable—then try hardware
    Do what works for you!

Most knots are demonstrated on YouTube, learn one knot at a time, to avoid being confused. If my videos are hard to follow, someone else will show same knot more clearly in another video.

    Good luck!

    Great advice.

Most people think that you have to know a gazillion different knots, but all that's needed is a fairly small, carefully chosen selection of knots that you know well.

And cord that works well with knots!

I've stopped using them on the guy outs and use them primarily on the ridgeline..

I also have one on my packs tree line. One on my gravity feed system and one on the side pull out on each of my hammocks.
