    Well, now, there is a thought, one I never thought of. It might indeed be a factor. If so, a tarp close to the ground and attached to hiking poles rather than trees might be subject to less stress. Maybe.

    Worbonnet does not sell split rings on their website. I emailed asking if I could buy a dozen of them.. Waiting for response.

    Next trip for me will be in Vermont and I'll try my hammock set up. Will be at lower elevation but the split ring idea will be added to my tarp. Thanks for sharing idea.

    Just heard about your adventure from Trevor and David during our overnight at Fingerboard this weekend. Good reminder that I should always be prepared to go to ground in cold temps. Pictures look amazing.

    Thanks. Yes.. always a good idea to have the option especially when you know you are heading into a storm.. but really anytime.. because its when you become complacent .. that is when you can get into the most trouble.. you get so used to being safe and everything working as usual, this is when something unexpected can happen or go wrong and can become a dangerous situation.
