I have 3 black hammocks now...don't really want any other color! Blends in nicely and "matches" whatever gear I add. OK that's getting picky.

Sewing these long straight hems were anything but straight. At one point the second line "met up" with the other 1/4" away it was so crooked. I need to work on that. I had clips, painters tape as a guide, still no luck.

Dang it! If only I had seen this before making the hammock last night:

Perhaps when you get better you can freehand it but that's the way I've always done it. I don't find those attachments for the presser foot useful As they tend to wander on me especially if the tensioning is not correct. I typically will pin in place with pinch clips like you would get from office Depot. So I don't mar the fabric I've always taken a little bit of silicone and put it on the ends of the pinch clips so that it's a little easier on the fabric and holds firmer. 25 of them will only run you about 5 bucks.

That's pretty slick, never thought about making a homemade hem tool. I tried to master using a rolled hem foot when I was making my DIY tarp and never could get the hang of it. This video goes in the old memory bank for the next time I try & do a rolled hem. Thx OneClick.

I used these. Worked great! Small but strong. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FZVH8RN

My initial impressions of this HyperD 1.6 are good. Close enough to the Argon 1.6 it replaces, but I think that Argon wins. I really like the little dimple feeling of that fabric...strange, but more comfortable than just smooth fabric in some way. Felt softer too but maybe it was just broken in after all my trips?

Anyway, after some more testing I'm confident in this thing not dropping me onto the ground. I will be making another soon, for no reason at all.

Added the phone/headlamp/etc. pouch last night. Can't live without this!

You gotta keep pimping that bad boy out with peak storage, saddlebags, phone holder (for viewing), LED attachment points and a dedicated spot for the heater (for scaring the animals away !).

Haha no that's too much for me. This is the most I'll ever need. Everything else goes on the ground or table. At the very least it's where I keep my contacts and solution so it doesn't freeze.

Straight seams... one of those less is more things. The less I try to control the fabric, letting it take its’ own course.. the more straighter my seams are.

Worth sharing I think... I pay as much if not more attention to the fabric feeding out of the machine than I do to what is being fed in. In sure there is some kind of physics to it, but putting the outfeed behind and to the right as it leaves the machine helps guide the fabric in with less wander. Took a sewing class a while back (there, I actually said it) and the instructor drilled this into me...

Definitely. I had to do a lot of guiding on both ends. I was OK as long as I resisted the urge to tug on it, even the slightest would wrinkle it up. I'm glad I learned that on a test stuff sack before this hammock.
