VIDEO - TEXAS - Double Hammock Hang at Dinosaur Valley

    https://youtu.be/rtdNJAqEb1Y

This trip was back on the Winter Solstice a few weeks ago. This was my oldest son's first backpacking trip. We car camp all the time but he had never backpacked before.

We went about 30 minutes down Hwy 67 to Glen Rose, TX to Dinosaur Valley State Park. There are some of the best dinosaur footprints around in the Paluxy River. We usually check those out in summer as you have to get down into the river most of the time to get a great view of them. On this trip we crossed the river and hiked the trail network on the north side of the park. Not too many miles but hopefully a lot of great memories. We had a great time. Got down to around freezing but we stayed mostly warm (except for our feet) in our Warbonnet El Dorado Hammocks and AHE underquilts.

If you're interested in our double hammock setup, I show that off a little later in the video.

It sure was. He had a great time. And it was nice to get out in the hammocks. It had been a while since we've done more than just lounge around in them while car camping.

What a great trip! Loved the water crossing and the gear show and tell. Really liked the father son memory making. Well done.
