@TallPaul I think you are talking about my camera bag (yellow tan) and the GoPro mounted on a stick/tripod mount. The camera and tripod are on top of the bag. I had a second set of base layers including meriwool hats and socks and gloves in bag plus GoPro equip in there too.

My phone will give you suggested "stylized" photos. This was from this trip. I never zoomed in this close but my phone came up with it. I thought it was cool.

Gilligan. Maybe if needed next time, you can loosen the lids on anything buried in snow. This would probably release the pressure built up, though it sounds like you trashed out your stainless steel bottles. Ill loosen the lid on my halgene bottles also, if there is risk of freezing.

    Great trip report.

Nice trip report and looks like some awesome views.

Sometimes we learn more from what went wrong than what went right. In the end it looks like you had a nice solo outing. Hope to see more in the future.

Yeah that picture was taken from the trailhead. It is a plowed parking area and the road is plowed very well as this is a state highway - The picture is taken probably a less than a mile and a half away from the top of Cameron Pass Colorado - For those that don't know the area this is the top of the continental divide - The Eastern side drains to the Mississippi I believe & The West goes to well the Pacific ocean I think. Anyway most of your western states are pretty good about keeping their thoroughfares plowed.

So Gilligan, what was your method to keep water from freezing. I'm headed out for sub zero temps this weekend and would like to have my water in a liquid state. I plan on sleeping with a hot water bottle so at least I'll have water for coffee in the morning. Pretty frustrating when you wake up in the morning ready for coffee and all your water is frozen.

Leave the water in your pot and bury it in snow.

If you have an efficient burner like a Jetboil, just let it freeze and boil it in the morning.
