A few days ago I was reading the Ti vs Al and thought the differences were insignificant. My mind might be changed. Last night the wife and I were testing gear in the back yard because a storm was coming. We are in the Prince Rupert, Canada (north coast) area and the winds can be quite powerful. I estimate we were seeing wind hammer gusts of 45 + knots where we were set up. Early this morning one of the gusts ripped the hook right off a Ringworm. We were using an MEC sil guides tarp with a shock cord loop attached to each tie out; 10 total, 4 on each side and 2 on ridgeline. The temps dropped to 34 degrees F (Amazon thermometer only does F). We called it and took everything inside to do some studying. Several shock cord loops were frayed and appeared to be on their last legs as only a few strands were left. We will have to look into this issue further to find solutions to the fraying problem but I suspect a Ti Ringworm may have survived the strong gusts. So I will add another vote for Ti Ringworms.
Cheers,
Wardex
