    Crosby Manitou State Park

We are planning a Superior Hiking Trail trek through Crosby Manitou SP this spring. Any of the campsites lend themselves well to hammock camping? The trail goes by sites 3 and 4 but are there any gems? Planning these trips is the only thing getting me through winter and work. Also when do the skeeters come out, will early June be soon enough to escape the back flys and skeeters? Thanks for any help.

I didn't stay in Crosby when I did that section, started outside once and ended there once and did not check out the campsites too much. They did all seem to have pretty good tree access though so I think you would be good at most of them. When I have been up in early June I have not run into any flys and the mosquitoes have been very manageable. I think the section south of Crosby might be my favorite section of the trail so far, enjoy!

Campsites 3 and 4 are right by the river. Pretty good sites.

Thanks Adroa and Shug for your quick responses. I watched a couple of Shug's videos of the area, very helpful.

I recently booked for early June, hoping that the skeeters aren't too bad. I think this is too early for the black flies to start biting. I'll still be using the permethrin though.

Lots of trees up there. Most of the sites are good choices.

We camped at Site 9 in 2016. Lots of tent space for my friend but only one option for hanging a hammock and that was in the brushy area on the edge of the campsite.
