    Question Whoopie sling orientation

If you don’t attach the whoopie directly to the hammock, does it matter which way it joins the straps to the CL (fixed loop tree side or adjustable loop tree side)?

Probably answered in the 100+ page whoopie thread that is pinned but did not look at entire thread.

I like the fixed loop near the hammock. That puts the adjustment where I can reach it from the shelter of the tarp. But it works either way.

Haven’t used whoopies in years but when I did the fixed loop was at the strap via MSH and a Dutch whoopie hook was the connection to the CL

Whichever way you want or like is fine. The physics of situation are it is just a line in tension. It doesn't know up-down-right-left-tree or hammock.

I have used them both ways, and I prefer the fixed loop at the hammock, too. Otherwise the adjustable end can be difficult to reach at wide hangs.

As mentioned either way works but fixed loop on the hammock end is better because adjustment stays within consistent reach despite the distance between the trees. Also, the tall falling to the ground flows more naturally from the adjustable bury.

Yeah - probably doesn’t matter because it doesn’t weigh enough but it is a little disconcerting to see the tail peeling back against the bury.

I run the fixed loop through the channel along with my CLs so that I can use either, depending on the tree gap distance. The CLs make convenient handles for holding the hammock while adjusting the whoopies.
