So, I hate to be the one to ask, but is this thing going to get cancelled due to all of this virus nonsense? I'm certainly not advocating that it should, but as the date is approaching, the sooner we all know the better. I have an RV site reserved for my family (who will not be hammocking), so I'll want to cancel that if I must.

Are we still hanging in 2 weeks??? Well, maybe... Read on...

Hey all my fellow hammock hangers,

As far as I'm concerned, as long as I'm healthy and able, and the park is open, which it is so far, I will be going hammock camping that weekend. Of course, if work somehow changes my schedule, my plans could change...
Click here for Indian Creek's Facebook page for the latest updates on the parks operational status.
The outdoors is the best place to be. Surrounded by trees and a beautiful lake with lots of fresh air.
We would certainly NOT be testing nor checking out each other's hammocks too closely.
We would have to sit a bit further apart at the fire and not sharing each other's beers from the same bottle as I've witnessed in the past.
I don't think anyone should share their gear, so only use your own.

I would expect that the "feast" would be altered a bit if not canceled. If we continue with the feast, we would have to practice very safe food preparation/serving guidelines. Maybe only one person would serve the food with a set of new proper protective food service gloves? And everyone would have to get their own drinks from their own ice chest/containers. And have some sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer available.
The turnout will likely be small and we might want to postpone this year's raffle until the next hang when more can participate.

Everyone who was planning to go, please chime in and let us know your thoughts. As long as we adhere to the "Social Distancing" guidelines, we should be able to have a safe and enjoyable time in the great outdoors! Even if only a few of us show up.

As things sit right now, I know my Dad won't be coming and I'm really not sure I'll be coming either. The travel itself just doesn't seem like something I can justify right now.

Which sucks. I was looking forward to seeing you folks again.

Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards issued a statewide Stay at Home order that goes into effect at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 23, to further fight the spread of COVID-19 in Louisiana.
As a result of this order, Indian Creek Recreation Area will be closed effective immediately until April 13, 2020. This closure includes all reservations, primitive camping, pavilion rentals and day use. Special events during this time period will also be cancelled.
Any reservations made between March 23 and April 13, 2020 will be cancelled and site fees will be refunded. We will continue to monitor the situation to determine whether the closure should extend past April 13, 2020.
Our staff is working diligently to assist our guests to ensure an orderly departure.

LA > Indian Creek Rec. Area, Woodworth, LA > Apr 3-5, 2020 - Annual LA Group Hang

OK folks!!! Looks like our hammock hang is officially cancelled. I would have loved to hang with all my friends even if it mean we would be 6 feet apart!!! Keep checking back. We have raffle prizes purchased already and we will be looking to host an old fashioned beer and whisky drinking, pulled pork eating, story telling, campfire burning shindig that the masses will talk about for years!!!!!!! Guaranteed!!!!!!!
Love you all and keep hanging!!!!
