LA > Indian Creek Rec. Area, Woodworth, LA > Apr 3-5, 2020 - Annual LA Group Hang

    Annual Louisiana Group Hammock Hang
Indian Creek Recreation Area, Woodworth, LA 71485
    Primitive Camping Area
    April 3-5, 2020

Plans for the 2020 Louisiana Spring Swing are finally coming together!

Click HERE to open the spreadsheet and sign in. It helps us keep a head count on who is coming and what food you’re bringing.

    Who's hanging?
Anyone and everyone, we don’t discriminate because you use a tent or because you reside in another state!

    What we hanging for?
The Annual Louisiana Group Hang is a car camping, hammock hanging event. You can hike, fish, paddle or just hang out.
If you have a hammock camping related skill or setup to demonstrate to others, please let us know and we will schedule a session or two on Saturday. We are always learning so if you want to teach us something we will all be better for it! None of us are experts in all things and there are likely some very new to hammock camping that will benefit from your knowledge! Teach us a useful skill!

    When we hanging?
April 3rd - 5th, 2020 (Some of us will be arriving on the 2nd, so feel free to come out on Thursday!)

    Where we hanging?
The same place we hung last year! Indian Creek Recreation Area, Woodworth, LA. in the Primitive Camping area.
You can find directions at the end of this post. Check back before arrival for updates on the exact section we end up in. We will post a phone # to call us if you get lost.

Click HERE for an overhead map including trails and Primitive camp area

The campground is on a large reservoir, so bring kayaks, canoes, or boats if you want. There is a hiking trail there, and the Wild Azalea trail is nearby. There are stores nearby too, in case you need to replenish ice and beer supplies.

Here are a few links to find out more about the campground and area...

    https://www.facebook.com/IndianCreekRecArea/

What is this going to cost me?
The cost last year ended up being 5$ per person which covered the group rate for 2 nights exactly.
The organizers will pre-pay for the group camp when we arrive.
Upon YOUR arrival, just inform the gate keeper that you are with the hammock camping group so you don't have to pay the individual fee.

What should campers do about food?
Saturday morning we will be flipping some pancakes and cooking some Dutch Oven Mountain Man Breakfast.
Saturday evening we are planning to have smoked pulled pork and fresh sausage for our annual community feast.
Everyone is encouraged to contribute a side dish to be shared. The raffle will begin immediately following dinner!

How much food do we need to bring for Saturday if I choose to cook something for the community dinner?
Last year we had about 20 campers so a medium sized casserole type dish will usually allow most campers to have a sample of your masterpiece. Don't be afraid to show off your cooking skills. We have some super awesome cooks and usually have enough food for double the people there!
Dutch oven desserts/cobblers are always a treat!

ALL OTHER MEALS ARE UP TO EACH INDIVIDUAL CAMPER!
Although don't be surprised if there are lots of hot dogs being roasted Friday night!!

The "Parade of Prizes" raffle will take place again this year!
Raffle tickets are $1 each so don't forget to bring some CA$H!

Donations for the raffle are always appreciated. All proceeds from the raffle go towards the overhead costs of the raffle prizes. The number and quality of prizes last year were simply unbelievable!

    What about firewood?
It's always hard to find wood so plan on bringing as much as you would burn at your individual site over the weekend. A couple of logs to contribute to the communal fire pit is always appreciated. There are usually locals in the area that sell wood.

A few things to remember for those attending for the first time.
    * Come completely self-contained as you would on any car camping trip.
    * Don’t forget a camp chair to sit around and hear some of the great stories to be told!
    * LNT - Leave NO Trace - Leave your campsite and the campground in general, cleaner that you found it! We all want to enjoy nature so keep it natural!

This campground is PRIMITIVE! There are no tent pads, or lantern hooks or tables!
There are a couple flush toilets with water spigots available. It’s a good hike away from the campsites so it’s best to bring enough water with you for you and your guests for the entire weekend. Be sure to bring your own toilet tissue in case the bathroom doesn’t have any.

    Google Directions…
Follow I-49 to exit 73 (Woodworth) LA-3265 W/Robinson Bridge Rd.
Continue West on LA-3265 W/Robinson Bridge Rd. for approx. 3.5 miles.
Turn left onto Camp Ground Rd.
Follow to park entrance, approx 1.25 miles.
Take the 1st left after the gate and follow to the Primitive area.

    * We will post the exact location once we arrive there to set up. We will also post a phone # to call for lost wanderers!

We may look at a different part of the primitive area just to change it up a little. There are more great sites there that we explored as we were leaving last year. We will post the exact location before everyone arrives. And a phone number for “lost and trying to be found”!
    Stay tuned...
