Helloooooo!
I posted in the HangCon 2020 post, but I thought it would be nice to post here. I've been stalking this site for over a year, plus FB group and Reddit.
My name is Pamela aka Happy Hour. 49 years old, married for 30, 3 sons, 1 granddaughter, 2 frenchies. Live in Colorado currently, but I am from Michigan originally and I have also lived in Florida, China, Indiana and Nevada.
I am still very new to hanging and I am finally just getting what whoopee slings are vs other things (okay, I understand a little bit). I tried to get a hammock setup a year ago before attempting the Appalachian Trail, but I was confused with all of the options, advice and then it was too late to get a proper setup for leaving March 17. I ended up only as far as Franklin, NC where I flew home in shame with numb hips from side sleeping on air pads in a tent. Boo.
I went back to the AT again in PA for a week to try a Hennessey Ultralight. I kept it simple and used my sleeping bag since it was warm in late June. LOVED IT. I slept like a baby in a cloud. I knew hammocking was right for me.
March 17, 2020 I am having a go at the AT again (same day as last year!) with a hammock from the start. I plan on hanging all the way to Maine. But first, HangCon!
