I hope you feel better soon.
Our “Purdy Boil” contest winner is Three time champion Hickery.
Hickery used the larger Yooper stove and a wide based aluminum pot.
Gas won the first heat with a stove of his own invention. It had two rings of jets that smoked everyone in first heat. Hickery was participating in a hammock demo and did not enter our first heat.
In second heat that Hickery won, Matt placed a strong second. Gas and Peeeeetey finished ahead of me, but I did get a rolling boil in first heat and fuel burnt out for a fail in second heat. There was keen competition and great trash talking!
Great competitors in all our hammock games.
Topped only by our food. Special thanks to Tazmaniac, Shaw, Gas, and Round Trip Raven; for some of best eating I’ve had in a month of Sundays.
Special thanks to Avery Flynn of OutdoorsmanOutfitters.com and Two Speed. Both vendors attended our Hang and both can make repairs of your gear, and make custom gear as well as alterations and stock items. Avery actually set up his canopy and with remote power, was able to help us hammock creatures—on site, on the spot!!!
Watch outings thread by tsshaw, Shaw is giving us a hang the last weekend in March on Uwharrie trail extension starting at Jumping Off Rock Trailhead off of Flint Hill Road
Shaw said we will probably leave Friday and camp Friday and Saturday nights. This is a good chance to hone your backpacking hammock camping skills. Watch his thread for exact time of departure on Friday afternoon!
Phantom, I tuned that stove for you to win the "Purdy Boil" contest and to upset the champion what happened? Glad my stoves were used and everyone had fun.. I'm working on some new designs and CeraTex Ceramic Fiber wicking and will bring them to the next Yates hang to test and for your raffle. Looking forward to seeing some pictures of the hang and the contest.
Yooper, the sun got in my eyes and my lumbago started acting up...
Your stoves performed quite well. It will be great to see you. I’ll message you soon. Thanks Yooper!
Great to see everyone and meet many new faces!
Hope we can get more folks in a hammock next time to avoid one of these

As usual everything was PERFECT!! Thank you PG for the great hang as usual and we had a great time, Sorry you didn't win the purdy boil but in the end we all are winners just for being there.
Yes, Two Speed, we are all Yates. I’m tarred, just got back and unpacked. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. I’m not much into trip reports and pictures, video. If any of you care to, post your photos etc. in our trip report, which does not yet exist? It’s good to camp in piney woods with a group that includes lots of smart people, and lots of really good people. Good and smart people! See y’all on the trail sooner or later!
We are Yates...Thanks Old Pros!
Once again another great hang by PG and group. Always a great time and great food.
Straight out of Clayton.
Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.
I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.
