I have never personally been to a group hang, but I'm definitely curious. I was wondering if anyone here has heard of or participated in any group hangs in WV? Would love some info on nearby hangs (say within 5 hours of central WV).

There have been hangs at Watoga State Park in Pocahontas County, including a Fall MAHHA in 2013. For a few years after that there was a WAHHA hang (Watoga Hammock Hanging Association), but the state DNR started enforcing the "1 camping dwelling per campsite" rule. There was a lot of interest and great times while they lasted, so start a group hang yourself. Find a suitable site and put out the word. (First rule in any leadership crisis: Need leaders less.)
You'll find great friends at any hang. Looking at Dan Innamaroto's great high definition group photo of the 2013 MAHHA brings back great memories. See how many you recognize.
State parks in WV have not been very friendly to hangers. But I have never encountered any problems in the Monongahela national Forest.
