Had a Raven for a short time.. sold it.

It was likely the most comfortable hammock I have slept in (Had three Blackbirds and more DIY hammocks I can count). Craftsmanship is outstanding. The bug net design is spot on and between the zippers and shock cord adjustments head & foot, there were no breaches to be found.

I sold it because it was a double layer I took in trade and the combined kit was heavier than I wanted to carry, not because of any deficiencies..
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

I have Dariens in 1.7 and 1.2 MTN (single layer) and zero bug problems.

However, even with a Dutch Half wit in Hexon 1.1 I've had no bug problems, but I usually wait until the heaviest bug season passes until I use it.

Maybe I just don't know how to lay in it correctly or seal the ends correctly, but I have been laying in it at the lake several times and could actually see out on the end opposite of where my feet were. There was an opening at the end of the zipper. I can't say bugs got in but certainly could. This Raven is the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The bugnet issue was enough to buy a Chameleon and make that my go to hammock.

Yea I just have a feeling I'm going to obsess over it LOL! My son has an ENO coming next week, I may test it out and see which type of lay I prefer (right/left) and go with the Darien, still not sure but I think both are excellent choices. DH has awesome customer support too so I'll be going with one of theirs for sure

I think that's the best thing to do, it shouldn't take long to decide which way you prefer

Did you adjust the shock cord that goes under the gather?

What about getting eaten by sketters from the bottom through the hammock? I was looking at using the new 1.3 fabric to save some weight and since it doesn't seem to stretch much. Have had a bad experience where I was eaten alive through the hammock and would like to not have a sequel to that night.

I've never had a problem with being bitten through the fabric regardless of the fabric weight... I've used 1.2 successfully without issue with bugs.

Your underquilt will be the first line of defense, but you can (and I do) apply permetherin to the hammock body, and the net.
