Question Dutchware spider poly straps and beetle buckles question

I got the 15 footers (I am new to all of this). I will probably get some shorter ones in the future but right now, with a nearly 20 foot span and a 10’6” hammock (upgrading soon), I have a lot of excess strap. Any simple ways to manage it - there is a safety aspect because it does need to lay and run with the loaded strap because I don’t want them to get wompyjawed and cause the buckle to fail. Rubber bands, Velcro loops, clips, lots of things to do, just wondering if anybody has been down this road.

I'm not sure I understand your question. The 15 ft. straps with beetle buckles should weigh 5.9 ounces. I don't consider 15 ft. to be too long, or 5.9 ounces to be excessively heavy. I've had mine a couple of years and have had no problems.

I just have six feet of strap hanging down onto the ground adding to lines and clutter in the connection area. Wondering if anybody was organizing it in some particular fashion.

I'm not. I also use whoopie slings and Dutch whoopie hooks and just let the excess hang or sit on the ground.

Literally just wrap it up and stick a rubber band on it, or loop it back up over the suspension or even just let it hang

I tie it to itself so it does not lay on the ground

Sometimes I will just take the extra strap (or whatever i am using at the time) and tie a couple slip knots on the loaded strap until it is all off of the ground. If you want to be extra neat about it, you could get some velcro straps, tie the velcro to the strap so they don't get lost and just use that to tie up the extra strap

On shorter hangs a lot of strap can be on the ground - I agree. I usually just let it pool on the ground but a few quick overhand knots to the taught straps will get it off the ground. I do use Velcro to keep it all together when I wrap it up and stow it in my pack. The only thing I notice is that the Velcro can sometimes be grabby and pull loose strands out of the webbing - I do worry about it fraying prematurely.

    Extra strap as dripline

I tie it to itself as another drip line. I do the same with the zing it from my tarp. Those two, and a shoelace, are all I've ever needed for dripline. Probably overkill but it keeps things off the ground.

I will do extra wraps around the tree if my straps seem way too long for the situation.
Oooh, shiney! What does THIS button do?
