Hey All, Ranger Marci from the park here.
NWS is calling for sleet and ice on Friday morning, but we should be above freezing by about 10am. We've already called VDoT to treat the roads in the morning and I would expect roads should be passable by between 11am and noon. As you all know, ice on this mountain can make for a pretty scary drive up. I would ask anyone planning to arrive early Friday morning to reconsider postponing by a few hours just for safety's sake.
The rest of the hang looks like a really wet Friday followed by snow showers overnight and ending Saturday morning.
Safe travels!
Not going to make it. 8 hours of driving in the rain and freezing park roads not for my truck.

I'm still laying in bed, planning on driving up early afternoon. How many people will be there?
