There’s fibs, embellishments, tall tales, braggadocio, and fraud
    Everyday occurrences
But telling lies to your Momma or your friends Momma...downright dastardly

    Bet it was fun

I’ve been running an idea through and have not done anything concrete
Phantom a dreamer, not a doer

A way to put a longer tarp ridgeline all way down even with hammock ridgeline To stay dryer in windy rainy weather

My hammock ridgeline is 10 feet
My tarp ridgeline is 13 feet
If there were tiny sturdy holes in ridgeline seam a foot and a half or 18 inches from each end of tarp ridgeline seam, then hammock suspension could go through those holes up to trees at about 30* angle Tarp and tarp ridgeline could continue straight across to trees at or about horizontical

Pros hunkered down dryer and warmer

Cons can be Phantom fail 7654
    Tarp might rip
    Tarp might leak at holes
Not much swinging back and forth
Might pull any stakes (if using stakes) out of ground I rarely use stakes, if windy

I’m not asking anyone to try this untested idea
If you can picture this in your mind’s eye
Do you think it might work or even work good enough to use?

Maybe I should stop trying to reinvent the wheel
And get correct sized tarp with real doors

Or with pull tabs instead of holes, tarp could be attached to ends of hammock Tarp ridgeline could be real close to hammock ridgeline
Extra 18 inches of tarp can bend upwards and tarp can lay on tree straps that are angling upward towards tree Tarp would be wrinkled and sloppy looking on both ends

I should be able to make this. It will be a long drive from HangCon to VA, but worth it.

I really wish I could make it. My wife is going to be out of town and my son isn't old enough for this to be his first trip. Enjoy. I'll make it one day.

Are they planning to camp the Mt Rogers summit or camping near where the AT crosses it?
They probably already know but there is no view from the summit.
Just forest with lots of moss.
But the area along the AT were the summit trail goes up is nice.
