When I read that from Cmoulder, I immediately thought of Shug. Or Carl. And French Fried Taters.

lol well I never heard of it as a kaiser blade, but when I was a kid Down South (FL panhandle) we called it a sling sickle.

My grandmother's house back then had a ravine behind it that was full of acre upon acre of kudzu, and I would use the sling sickle to cut it back at least once a week. For an hour of very hard work in the heat and humidity she paid me 50¢. At least she fed me with a good breakfast of bacon and eggs and biscuits made from scratch.

And after that chore I would walk to the local Piggly Wiggly for her and pick up a carton of Pall Malls and some snuff.

Stomping down or cutting down undergrowth... so much for Leave No Trace haha.

I wonder if you can use UQP to take a less bulky less heavy UQ and tarp then would that system work out to be same or lower bulk and weight?

Seems two camps of thought on UQPs.

I have both the 2QZQ and the WBBB XLC one with the winter top cover that can combined to make a sock. I like the added protection. I’d rather dirty or damage my UQP than my UQ. UQ need special care to wash and washing them should be avoided, so I’d rather wash my UQP than my UQ.

Basically the equivalent of simply walking in the woods really. Cutting off two scraggly ferns or underbrush, come on.

lol In my Photoschlock job with the sling blade I purposely made it very ham-handed and cheesy looking so it wouldn't be mistaken for real.

But I confess to having yanked up a pesky weed from time to time.

Sounds just like my raising in south GA(Blakely, Bainbridge and also more northerly GA locales).

I thought a kaiser blade/slingblade was more of a sickle (kindly shaped like bananner) -- I think we called the thing in the picture a yo-yo --- think goodness I didn't have too close a relationship with the thing.

So am I correct in thinking the general consensus is a UQP is not neccessary but nice to have if your not going ultra light. And this it acts as windproof layer, so it enhances the effectivness of an UQ, Thus keeping you a bit more warmer on windy days?

    Is that right?
