Parking arrangements could be made at Nordic Inn perhaps? I can call this week to ask. Small section of lake is open to crown land according to Atlas - but not all of it.

EDIT - Correction - part of water trail so fees may apply - Highboy checking.

here's my thoughts: I'd like to do a Poker Lakes paddle this year - so good excuse to check it out - but I don't know area.
Big East Lake access point looks like it has a parking area and is marked Crown Land north of Hwy 118 - could target Bentshoe Lake or others closeby.
Also in area is the Beaverdam (motorized vehicle - snow / ATV) Trail just to the east of the Parking area.

Poker Lakes are part of Haliburton Highlands Water Trails. We looked into it a few years back. Ended going to a different lake in the area but really enjoyed the experience.

I'm going to have to start watching for these group hangs to the north. I'm about 20 minutes from the border, which makes it closer than most hangs in the States.

I can't make this one due to family stuff but I'll be watching for Ontario-based hangs in the future. Have fun!

After much run-around, I finally got in touch with the Algonquin Highlands Public Works fellow and inquired about the Big East Access Point. He drives by it every day and says that it is at least partially plowed. We should be able to head north into Bentshoe Lake or south into Big East Lake fairly easily. I'm expecting another call on the matter and will provide an update as soon as possible.

    Cheers

P.S. If you feel inclined, I invite you check out my Instagram page where I post a variety of outdoors and urban photographs. Even a hammock or two.

Beautiful pictures! I can say I was with you when you took 12 of the pictures. I remember the dates and locations.

Thanks man, for the pictures and the memories!

It's I that should be thanking you for your great company over the years, not to mention that mighty beard.
