Curious how this turned out...
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

This was an epic trip
Had such a wonderful time, ice and all
Arrived friday evening hiked a mile in to basecamp
Saturday hiked another mile or 2 into a lake front campsite where I enjoyed a crystal clean night topless
I tracked 6 satellites and saw 4 really nice shooting stars all while listening to the crazy sounds the frozen lake.makes
Sunday I hiked out and went skiing then went back to my "basecamp" and hunkered down for the storm I dragged my sled behind me to bring some extra comforts
The storm raged on with crazy ice buildup as seen in pictures
On Monday I decided to head to.my buddy's ski house and regroup plus they were calling for up to 40mph winds (which did not happen) thank god
I got everything down ok.mostly thanks to you guys
The tarp and all lines just got rolled up and strapped to.outside of pack in a big icy mess
Got to ski house and hung everything up to dry out
Then went skiing again only to have mtn close that afternoon due to lightning strikes (thundersnow woot)
Tuesday am I did another small hike around a pond
I almost fell through said pond doing something stupid
I meet some locals on ice fishing and another walking there dogs
So I decided to hike that night nye around the back side to watch the ski mtns fireworks show
So I gathered the 6 pack I hiked in with and my camp pad and headed.onto the now snow covered ice
Flowing in others tracks, I zigged when their tracks sagged and then I notice water filling in all my tracks
Thinking to.myself that's odd and i am getting the f#ck outage there i be line toward land as my foot pushed through with each step
Unsure if it was overflow or what was happening but it was scary
Then the Bush wacking from.pond to said trail was getting old quick as the snow was 30" in most places
Some back to basecamp I went and enjoyed a fire while the now snow storm continued
Was still snowing when I left this am
Was a freaking awesome trip
Cant wait to get back out there

Awesome. I love winter camping.. Even better with snow and ice!!!
Yup sure is
It's so quiet
Even last night everything still covered in ice and now snowing hard and the wind picks up
A totally unique sound
Go for a morning hike around and see all the animal tracks
Love knowing moose have been by durning the night
Just awesome
Cant wait to get back out

Glad you made it out. Walking on that slushy ice must have been unnerving.
