I just kinda loosely clip the the guyouts to the corners of my run fly. It pulls a bit upward instead of downwards. Makes for a better foot box. Give it a shot

Now that I've got the new tarp I'm got the lines from the hammock clipped to the tarps Line Lock Hooks on the backside and my porch mode trekking pole on the front to see if it helps like you suggested.
