I bought and received my first 3/4 length underquilt from hammock gear and it is a 40°. I know I will need some kind of insulation under my feet so will any sit pad work?
I have one from dutch and one from simply light designs will these work?

I use a sit pad & think that is the most popular option. When it's warmer, I don't use anything but warm socks.

Yeah, I have a Z seat that fits nicely in my 40F tq footbox. Down to low 40s, I've never had to use it.
thank you for you response. the Z seat looks like the same size as the seat I have from simply light designs

I use a sit pad as well. I have one of the foam ones from Arrowhead that's a nice size. I tend to use my Thermarest Inflatable sit pad the most. Slightly underflate it. I learned that from Mr. Sean Emergy's videos. Works well.
Depending on your height and lay angle, you may find that you need anything at all, especially in warmer weather. I use a mummy bag as a top quilt and the foot box is often enough for me, and I am 6 ft tall. You can also scoot the UQ down over your feet and use a pillow under your head and neck. Mess around with it and see what works for you

I'm about 5ft even so hoping I won't need anything much.

I have a HG 40° Phoenix and a LLG 50° Operator Series Habanero, and with either of those, sometimes nothing else is necessary depending on clothing, TQ, and weather.
I also have a JRB Greylock 4 and when that quilt is the appropriate choice, it's pretty much a given that something else will be needed to insulate my lower legs and feet.
The Thermarest inflatable sit pad is a good choice. I also use Gossamer Gear backpacks which have a removable SitLight pad as their back panel. The GG pad is sometimes a good supplement for the 40° Phoenix. If it's cold enough for the Greylock 4, using the Thermarest pad inside the TQ with the GG pad underneath the TQ has worked well for me.
I just got my first 40° Phoenix as well. This is my first 3/4 and I was wondering about the cold feet, but I found that for 40° and higher my quilt was perfectly warm enough.
A couple of weeks ago I wanted to see if I could combine an inflatable pad and the Phoenix down to colder weather for shoulder season with no changes to my summer load out except the 8oz NeoAir short.
I was able to comfortably take the Phoenix, pad, 20° top quilt, and a z-lit sit pad in my footbox down to 25°
So in short: down to 40 or so, your quilt footbox should be sufficient. If not, a sitpad is all you’ll need. If you don’t use a sitpad, try your extra clothes in a stuff sack.
