    Hello!

Hi there! My name is Mel and I am from Oxford, MS. I am very new to the hammock/ camping/ backpacking world. Now that I know it exists I am almost obsessed with it. Unfortunately my husband and friends are not. They will go with me places here and there but are not interested in learning more about it or anything like that. I’m here to learn as much as possible so I can start exploring the outdoors. My dad got me some basic affordable equipment for Christmas that I will get tomorrow and I have been purchasing things here and there. I am so excited to be here and can not wait to get to meet those of you on this site! Yay!

    Greatings Mel and welcome!

If there are any small items you need, like hardware, lines etc, let me know. I inherited a ton of gear from one of members who passed last year and my hope is to get every last piece of gear of his, back out on the trail. Maybe we can help finish kitting you out!!

    Happy holidays!

Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

Hi, I'm new to the forums too but have been hammock-ing a couple years now.

My friend and I go without the guys all the time.
Don't let them slow you down too much. There is a couple state parks near Birmingham Alabama that we have stayed in our hammocks.
We are in Kentucky and haven't made it to anything in Mississippi yet.

Hello from South Louisiana. You’re just a couple of hours away.
My fam tolerates my hiking hobby but much rather RV camp. Watch for the Louisiana hang in February. Won’t be too far from you.
