It really doesn't get that cold here and I sleep warmer than most, but for me a 20F top and 20F bottom quilt isn't quite warm enough for the coldest weather here.
    Sewn through for sure.

In general, a warmer under quilt paired with a lighter top quilt.. Not the other way..

I've done a sewn top quilt and both full and 3/4 under quilts. All for summer use. Got rid of all of them because the fabric isn't water/sweat proof.

They are super slippery, so you'll need a way to keep it in place either way.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

Just ordered. Good value. I'm going on a short backpack in about 10 days and the temperature is likely to be right at the edge of the comfort rating on our equipment. Too cold for the woobies to help much. I wanted something easy and cheap that will buy me some degrees. My daughter is a tent camper and she can just throw one over her sleeping bag. Long term I'll probably do some mods to them but maybe not. They are a good size and weight for my Casita RV.

To use it as a blanket with no mods, it's a very nice addition to enhance the warmth in your system. I've used just the blanket several years ago to boost what I had with great success.

To slightly mod it, rip out every other seem in one direction and all seams in the other direction. This will give you several tubes and you can move the down easily to enhance your warmth even more.

To mod it just a bit more, shift all the down to one side of the tubes and sew a new edge a few inches in from existing edge. This will give you more loft with the same amount of down. Just a little narrower blanket.

Then you can completely mod it by relocating squares, tubes. Making footboxes with sections removed, adding faux baffles and suspension for an UQ. Drawstring footbox or head can be added, etc.

Here is my TQ/UQ I made.

What’s the lowest temperature you’ve comfortably gotten down to with that system?

I've been down into the mid 30's and my son upper 20's.

The TQ was getting cool at around 40 but the UQ was into mid 30's for me. My son said he was good in the UQ at upper 20's.

The TQ still has sewn thru baffles/tubes and a closed footbox but very fluffy. I insert my Summer TQ which is a little smaller so they nest nicely. This has been down to 40 and still needed venting.

The UQ has the faux baffles and can be seen in the first pic, 2nd row.

Those are synthetic instead of down. It may weigh slightly more but might possibly be more efficient at this temp range.

I use a Gemini modded CDT to supplement my Snugpak synthetic underquilt. The Snupak UQ by itself is good for me to about the very upper 30sF. Stacked with the CDT I am good down to the mid to upper 20s.

I think unmodded you will easily be able to get down to what you need it for. And unmodded, you can use it for all kinds of other things too.

I would not use a single blanket by itself below ~55F, but that's just me. The single-blanket underquilt especially has problems with cold spots on the seams.
