Well if you're going to make a living off YT you'd better be prepared to self-promote.

I can imagine that doing all these trips and managing logistics while also "feeding the beast" (providing fresh content YT) is hard work. Coming up with good video and entertaining soliloquies and editing all that stuff into a neat package ain't as easy as she makes it look.

Mama always told me "if you can't say something nice then keep your mouth shut".I like Dixie and I subscribe to her channel and wish her the best.AND I sure would like to see a series of Shug and Dixie go hammock camping. It would get about a million hits I suspect.

Can't wait to hear Shug's comments on ground sleeping.Last time I slept in a tent it took quite a while go get mobile the next morning............

Planning to do a few trips where I may not be able to use a hammock.
I know I will miss my hammock.
You had a Tarptent in the past if I remember correctly, right? Enjoy your trip. As much as I love hammocks, I love the desert as well. Grew up with some land just outside of Big Bend NP in Texas and spent many nights in a tent out there. Sure do miss that area.

    Dixie’s trying Warbonnet

Dixie is pretty good to watch I think. She makes mistakes and all. Doesn’t talk down to you. Says she doesn’t know things and tries to figure it out. She’s a self promoter just like everyone is in their job. It’s great. She is straight up about how she got her gear. So maybe people ‘shill’ the stuff to the ends of the earth and don’t tell people they get it for free or a discount. And best of all her videos are not just ... set up camp... drink 3 IPAs and talk about nothing.

True. And I think she is making her living on You Tube to support her avid hiking. Not sure why people sometimes slam that. A job is a job.
I too do it but You Tube is not my sole income. A bit of mad-money at best.
I'll take it as it takes time to produce all the content. No one will ever know unless they do it themselves.

I agree on that Shug! More work to making videos than one would think, unless you've done it yourself.

    Why do you torture yourself?

There are many outdoor-related YT'ers that aren't my cuppa joe so I see a little bit at first, decide I don't really like their stuff and move on, simply never watching again. I don't waste time trying to convince others that they suck; I just don't care.

And you'd give up something you like simply because somebody you don't like is using it?

LOL, it's a crazy ol' world out there.
